Tivoli's mission is commendable: They provide studios and an informal gallery space to local artists, with some urban gardening on the side. They also know how to throw one heck of a bash. Every couple of months, they've hosted major shindigs, like the Tunguska Event and Event TWO: ArtWorks of Art, which are usually centered around a specific performance or project and then later dissolve into a party that everyone's invited to. After this year's Charleston Comedy Festival, performers wound up shaking their thangs under the rafters of the Upper King warehouse well into the early morning hours. Since Kulture Klash is on an indefinite hiatus, we hope Tivoli will keep the art-meets-soiree concept alive.
