Say you need a replacement side mirror for your sweet vintage ’99 Altima. You can either A) go through a Nissan dealership and order a genuine Nissan part or B) take your tools down to LKQ and pull one off of one of the scrap cars on the yard — and pay a lot less money for it that way. There are other car part yards in the Charleston area, but we haven’t found another one quite as big as LKQ, which offers 12 acres’ worth of cars categorized by body type and make. Their website advertises a rotating inventory of about 1,000 cars to pick from, with 125 new vehicles entering the lot every week. Plus, if you haven’t been back there before, it’s quite a spectacle to behold.
