People have been riding bikes on Spruill for years, but it's always been a white-knuckle journey, what with the massive potholes and the rush of automobile traffic. Finally, road crews arrived in the fall of 2012 to resurface the road and add bike lanes. Now, for folks living in Park Circle (or anywhere along Spruill, really), the route from North Charleston to downtown has gotten a lot safer. Those bike lanes are smooth sailing. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the car route, which has gotten more frustrating since the road project reduced the number of lanes from four to two, with a big ol' unusable strip of asphalt down the middle.
