Before Brooks Reitz became known as Mr. Jack Rudy Tonic, we knew him as the cute bartender at FIG who said he might review some theater for us but never called us back (we forgive you, Brooks). Now, he’s got his little brown bottles of handmade tonic in stores all over the country. Really good stores, too, like Anthropologie and West Elm. Mixed with a little soda water and, of course, gin, Reitz’s G&T (or V&T, if you prefer) is dark in color, a bit savory, and unlike anything we’ve ever tasted — in a good way. Now Reitz has released his own line of grenadine, and we couldn’t be more excited to try it. We’ve always felt that this mixer was underrated, and we’re sure Reitz has reinvented it in the best way possible. Mix it with vodka and some soda water and you’ve got one of our favorite drinks: the Dirty Shirley.
