Best New Reason to Grab a Pint in the Middle of the Day

The World Cup

Staff Pick

Every four years, soccer fanatics are given the perfect excuse to call in sick to work for a day — or a month. Charleston hooligans proudly represented their various homelands as the World Cup went down an ocean away in South Africa. Obviously the go-to spot to watch the games was Madra Rua, but plenty of other bars and restaurants around town, from Bacco to Mellow Mushroom, played the games and provided drink specials to winners and losers alike. While the United States fell short of their goal, the spirit was still alive, and fans eventually saw Spain defeat the Netherlands in the final match. We're already making plans for 2014 in Brazil.
