For far too long, Rivers Avenue has been like the red-headed stepchild of major Charleston roadways. It's the cousin we all know about, the one that lives in the trailer park, collects workers comp, and has three ex-wives, each one of them washed-up strippers who are crippled by their bad habits. Now maybe that will change. The way things are going, Rivers is slowly but surely becoming an ethnic food mecca: There's Pho #1 at the H&L Asian Market, Bombay Indian Restaurant, La Norteña Mexican Restaurant, and, now, Raul's Taqueria. It's a good start, but it's just a beginning. Next up: How about somebody open a dim sum joint, and we're talking cheap dim sum, not that any of that fancy-schmancy stuff. Oh, and a cheap ass Mediterranean joint. And an Ethiopian restaurant. And a Korean barbecue joint. Mmm.
