We know only one thing. There’s no one out there who’s met Mickey Bakst that doesn’t remember the occasion. He is that engaging, that skilled at his craft, and that able to provide an impression that leaves its lasting mark. He’s a politician eschewing an office or a vote, a conductor who can masterfully bring it all to a glorious crescendo. To that end, he has turned his talents toward the helping of others, creating Feed the Need, a shared effort among the city’s chefs and restaurateurs in fighting hunger. He also headlines most any event asked of him, raising tens of thousands for victims of natural disasters far, far away. That’s just the kind of guy that Mickey is, and he will most certainly expand on that role in the future — to the benefit of us all.
