Cinema Stand-Up at the Sparrow

Staff Pick

There’s only one way to enjoy a bad movie: by mocking it relentlessly from the peanut gallery. That was the formula for Mystery Science Theater 3000, the cult TV series in which a man and several robots cracked wise about such seminal cinema turds as Robot Holocaust and Star Force: Fugitive Alien II. That’s also the formula for Cinema Stand-Up, “where good comics pick on bad movies and everyone has a good time.” Each month, the Park Circle Film Society invites a local comedian to riff on a surprise stinker of a movie, and for just $5, you can sit in the Sparrow and watch it all happen. So far, the comics have included Neil Bansil, Andrew Rider, Jason Groce, Michael Clayton, and DeShawn Mason. We can’t wait to see what film they rip into next.
