Best Lifesaving Program

Staff Pick

The folks at LAPS, a.k.a. the Lowcountry Aquatic Project Swimming, are truly doing a great thing: they are teaching hundreds of elementary school kids in Charleston County how to swim free of charge. And when we say free, we mean free — both the lessons and transportation cost you nothing. In the end, the nonprofit program is a bit of a no-brainer. Water is all around us in the Lowcountry, and one sure way we can help keep our children safe is to teach them how to swim. Kudos to LAPS. You’re doing a great job. —Chris Haire
