Best Dog Boy

Addison Dent

Staff Pick

Evan Parry gave the performance of a lifetime in Shipwrecked, playing the physically and emotionally demanding role of fantasist Louis de Rougemont. But the show was truly stolen by the young Addison Dent, who played several different roles, including a dog. This dog had no lines and no special mask or costume. It didn’t even have a tail. Nevertheless, Dent perfectly captured the expressions and feelings of a canine companion — curiosity, bewilderment, loyalty, hunger, betrayal. Whenever he was on stage, he had the audience eating out of his paw. Dent must return to doggy duty when the Village Playhouse remounts the play for Piccolo; without him, they’ll be barking up the wrong tree.
