Guest chef dinners are one thing, but when the guest chefs are Charleston's trio of James Beard Award winners — Mike Lata of FIG, Sean Brock of McCrady's/Husk, and Robert Stehling of Hominy Grill — well, then, magical things are going to happen. So magical you'd expect them to deliver your food seated on a unicorn. This dinner was auctioned off at a Southern Foodways Alliance event, and people paid big bucks to get a seat at the table, which means the SFA raised a lot of money. Not only did our guys deliver a stellar meal, making us proud, but then Julian Van Winkle showed up with some rare bottles of Pappy Van Winkle, propelling this dinner into legendary territory. And then there was that after-party ... One for the ages.
