Elim Bolt’s Dingy, Slimy, Scummy
EP was the musical surprise of the year. Normally, Johnnie Matthews and company crank out indie-rock Americana, but the new EP was straight garage-grunge pop, the kind that Sonic Youth, the Pixies, and In Utero-era Nirvana mastered. And then there was the trippy, trash-art video for “Dingy,” which feature plenty of cross-dressing, hokey hypnotic effects, and lots of silliness. More please.
