Gov. Nikki Haley might be a Clemson fan, but she put aside the old in-state rivalry to declare Mon. Oct. 29, 2012 Marcus Lattimore Day. The star University of South Carolina running back had recently suffered a knee injury that would keep him off the field for the rest of the season — and end his college career. In Columbia, Carolina fans spent the day rallying for Lattimore's return, signing giant get-well cards and singing him "Happy Birthday." Three months after undergoing knee surgery, Lattimore announced that physical therapy was going well and he was way ahead of schedule on his recovery. By next fall, he might even be playing in the NFL.
