Likable foodie wild man Adam Richman, the fun-loving host of the Travel Channel’s Man vs. Food program, visited Charleston last spring, auspiciously making the rounds from the docks of Bowens Island to the concession stands at the Joe. In the main scene, he sat down in the dining room of West Ashley Japanese restaurant Bushido for the Spicy Tuna Roll Challenge, ingesting 10 super-hot tuna hand rolls, each spicier than the one before. In front of a packed house of locals who’d taken the challenge themselves, Richman raced through all 10 in 20 minutes, winning a Bushido warrior headband, his picture on the wall, a $25 gift certificate to Bushido, and bragging rights. Fortunately, no camera crew caught footage of any yackin’ afterward.
