The Village Tavern

Staff Pick

When East Cooper rock club the Village Tavern closed with a whimper last July, most scenesters assumed that it would never reopen. Then, suddenly, a trio of enthusiastic and optimistic entrepreneurs came in, secured the space, hauled ass, invested a pile of money, totally renovated the bar and music room, and hosted a grand opening in November. Kudos to owner Jen Goldsmith Morlan, general manager John Morlan, and booking manager David Warren for their effort and time —and for their determination to make the new Village Tavern a genuine live music venue.
