Yes, we've lost a few parking spaces downtown, but the $5.5 million makeover of the City Market appears to be worth it. Take a stroll from end to end, and you'll be taken aback at just how much more open and clean the whole place feels. What was once an oppressive hall of tourist trinkets is now a bright and energetic hall of tourist trinkets. Snarky comments aside, the renovation was much-needed and worth the loss of a few parking spaces along the sides of the Market. Now, if only we could convince the powers that be to start selling local produce, à la the Farmers' Market, then we'd really have a place that both tourists and locals would visit.
