Here in America, we’ve never had a problem latching onto other countries’ holidays for our own pleasure. Bastille Day, celebrating the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution, might not have the same appeal for drunken coeds as St. Patty’s or Cinco de Mayo, but it will get you a three-course dinner at Fish on King Street. Chef Nico Romo, who was recently awarded the title of Master Chef of France, will host a Bastille Day celebration for the second year in a row on Wednesday. Chef Romo will put together a traditional French prix fixe menu; a very reasonable $35 will get you all three courses. For only $10 more, diners can pair their meal with traditional French wines. In addition to the food, Fish will also have a pomme frite guillotine station, live French music, cancan dancers from Charleston Ballet Theatre, and several other attractions they’re keeping under wraps. Patrons are also encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Fourth of July it ain’t (after all, they really only overthrew themselves in their Revolution), but if there’s one thing Americans can respect about France, it’s the food and wine. —Cameron Jones
