We’ve heard of a lot of things going down in a barn. There’s the obvious farm-type chores, a Footloose-style dance montage, and even weddings, but yoga? That’s kind of a new one for us. On Saturday, Mixson is partnering with the Yoga House of Charleston for the first Barefoot in the Barn, an hour of yoga under the instruction and guidance of Beth Cosi, one of the Yoga House’s senior instructors. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re a bona fide yogi or a newbie looking to perfect your downward dog, everyone is welcome — just grab a yoga mat, a water bottle, and a towel. Plus, with assistants there to assist every level of practitioner, you don’t have to be concerned about face planting trying to hold your starfish pose. “We love the idea of outside yoga, no matter where it is, as the experience of yoga draws so much from the energy of the earth. We truly have a mission of making yoga accessible to everyone no matter what their ability level or financial standing,” says Thomas Glenn, founder and owner of the Yoga House Charleston. After class, head over to Mixson Market to refresh with complimentary refreshments from 10-10:30 a.m.. The event is open to the public.
