When Sex In The City's Carrie Bradshaw said, "It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes. That's why you sometimes need really special shoes!" she may have been referring to Bangs Shoes. Rather than just buying a random pair of busted sneakers or overly-priced kicks, why not buy a pair of shoes that won't make you feel shopper's remorse? Each pair of Bangs represents a different cause and nonprofit partner: Red shoes support disaster aid through D.I.R.T. ( "Disaster immediate Response Team") while khaki shoes draw attention to world hunger via CHOICE, a grassroots organization that partners with local communities on specific development projects. Green shoes focus on development through S.O.U.L., a grassroots organization that partners with local communities to implement development strategies in Uganda. The blue shoes are devoted to clean water through Drop In The Bucket, a nonprofit that sets up wells and sanitation systems in schools in Africa.
In celebration of these unique shoes' the arrival in the Lowcountry, Bangs will be holding its official launch party this Saturday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Mercury Bar, with live music by Great Blue Heron.
