Avondale Holiday WinterFest

When: Sat., Dec. 14 2013

Last week, a little girl’s Christmas list went viral, and she was very specific, asking for five NorthFace jackets, a puppy, and even magic — or “a thing that can turn into anything at anytime.” This year, Avondale’s Holiday WinterFest sounds a lot like that list. The event will have special deals, raffle prizes, a fire truck, face painting, hula hoops, pet photography, a photo booth, craft vendors, DJs, a canned food drive, clothing swap, community partners, gift wrapping, an afterparty, Santa, and a partridge in a pear tree. OK, we lied about the last one. But they will have a neighborhood bake sale, and a portion of bar sales will go toward the I Heart Hungry Kids nonprofit organization. SpaceCraft studio will host DJ MJ and Cassidy and the Kid for some jams. And Gino Castillo will perform at the afterparty at Voodoo. “Everyone in Avondale is in a very celebratory mood because we have an almost 100 percent capacity rate. Everyone is so excited, and there’s so much energy for the shopping district’s revival,” says Allison Merrick of SpaceCraft. “We’re all ready to show what a great place to shop this is.”
