Avondale is one of West Ashley’s most unique and beloved areas, so it’s only fitting that Avondale’s businesses come together to celebrate their collective awesomeness, which is what’s happening this Thursday at their first-ever block party. “This is really exciting for all of us, because it’s one of the first events we have been able to put on which brings our community and neighborhood together,” says organizer Julia Pagan of Julia Pagan Couture Designs. To help you get a jump on your holiday shopping, participating stores are offering special deals, as well as refreshments for shoppers. “A lot of them will also be offering either unique events or goods which are only available for this one night. My store is doing a business card raffle with prizes, for example,” says Pagan. The list of participating businesses stretches from Daniel Street to Savannah Highway, and it’s impressive to say the least. All participating businesses will have balloons out front to reel in the party-goers. Some of the deals we’ve heard about include three salon services for $30 at HairStyleLynn, 50 percent off of select artwork at Greenway Studio art gallery, and a free photo booth at Jennifer Bearden Photography. We recommend swinging by HairStyleLynn before you hit the photo booth.
