Part of the Piccolo Spoleto Stelle Di Domani series. Picture a painting. A white painting. White lines on a white background. Now ask yourself what that painting is worth? A friendship? Three men ask that question, stretching the canvas of their relationship into perspective. This Tony Award winning play by Yasmina Reza is a hilarious and thought provoking evening of theater. (90 mins.)
WHAT IS IT? Well, that’s the question, isn’t it? When you look at something painted, sculpted, or otherwise crafted into being by someone, how do you define its worth? This is a comedy about men asking themselves exactly that.
WHY SEE IT? It’s a Tony-award winning play, for starters. Then there’s the fact that it’s a new theater group called Crescent Stage comprised of PURE Theatre alum Paul Whitty, rising young star Jamie Smithson, and Lobby Hero provocateur Paul Roleses. Add in a bit of smart humor as well as some very talented actors and you have the makings of fine comedic theater.
WHO SHOULD GO? Art and theater buffs alike, of course, as well as anyone who likes a good laugh and a bit of insight into both. (Jason A. Zwiker)
