Michael Mitchell Gallery will host a cocktail party to kick off their third annual, month-long Art for Charity fundraising series. The first event focuses on the Friends of MUSC Children’s Hospital, just one of the six local nonprofits the gallery hopes to raise money for. Art for Charity founder Michael Mitchell makes an effort to fill the gallery with new and unique pieces at lower price points, and he’s invited more than 30 local and regional artists to showcase their work at the event. “We want to make it so that everyone has the opportunity to obtain a piece of art and help contribute to the cause,” Mitchell says. “Our local artists, such as Betty Foy Botts, Susan Colwell, Lisa Shimko, Hirona Matsuda, Tom Potocki, and Marissa Vogl, always look forward to participating in Art for Charity because it’s their way of giving back to these Lowcountry nonprofits.” The first cocktail party will feature live music from Lee Barbour and Ron Wiltrout as well as tasty hors d’oeuvres from O-Ku, wine from Spanish Vines, and a selection of beers from Holy City Brewery. This will be the third year in a row that the Friends of MUSC Children’s Hospital has partnered with the Michael Mitchell for the Art for Charity event.
