You might have seen the James Beard Award-winning TV personality Alton Brown as the quirky emcee of Iron Chef America, or perhaps you’ve seen him hosting Good Eats on the Food Network. Now he’s coming to our town, and he’ll be bringing his humor and enthusiasm for the science of culinary arts. Expect family-friendly stand-up comedy, food experimentation, and a multimedia lecture all rolled into one show — and, for the first time, live music. “My college degree was actually theater,” Brown told City Paper contributor Robert Moss in an interview last month. “I had always loved it and wanted to do more of it .... I have done maybe a hundred live stage shows, but I have never been able to put that into a road show — build exciting big sets and demos. I wanted to do it for the last eight years.” Audience interaction is “strictly enforced” throughout the evening, and if you’re called up on stage as a culinary assistant, “you’ll definitely want to take the lab coat,” we’re told.
