The students flock to this joint at night, and the Sunday brunch remains a favorite of the college and young professionals set, but during lunchtime hours, the place is dominated by downtown workers looking for a solid bite — and fans of trashy TV and B movies, which always seem to be playing on the bar’s TVs. Truth be told, A.C.’s may be the friendliest, most laid-back place to grab lunch on King Street, and the burgers are some of the tastiest in town, from the olive-covered California burger with its salty zing to the more daring Grand Ma burger, which is flambéed with, you guessed it, Grand Marnier. There’s also a pretty delicious — and spicy — chicken Philly. And if you’re really adventurous, you can always get the Death Burger, which is topped with pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, hot banana peppers, dill pickles, and a top-secret ultra-hot sauce. You’ve been warned. —Chris Haire,
