Grits Are Good For You

No longer will Hominy Grill have a different menu for lunch and dinner. After years of accommodating customers who want something from the lunch menu at dinner time, owner/chef Robert Stehling decided to stitch the two together to birth a "daily menu." The daily menu will feature house specialties along with new dishes like chicken livers, catfish bog, and a catfish stew with rice and sausages. Breakfast will still be served from 7:30-11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday; the daily menu will be served from 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday. National Cornbread Festival

Have a mean cornbread recipe and feel like making a quick $4,000? Martha White wants your submissions. Using at least one cup of Martha White corn meal or corn bread mix, the 10 most creative main dishes prepared in Lodge Cast Iron cookware will face off in South Pittsburg, Tenn. to become the reigning cornbread champion. McCrady's dining room, off Unity Alley, will be closed through Thurs. Jan. 11, and McCrady's Lounge + Wine Bar off East Bay Street will be closed until spring. Both are undergoing renovations.

Tickets are now available for the annual "A Night in the Valley," a wine dinner and auction black-tie gala to benefit Trident Technical College students. It will be held Friday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. on Trident's main campus. Tickets are $200 per person and can be reserved by calling 574-6208.
