Remember how much you loved grilled octopus and spinach as a kid? Neither do we, but The Fat Hen has partnered Chef Fred Neuville with children’s food author Nancy Triangali Piho to craft a lunch buffet that may change your children’s idea of tasty foods.
The Fat Hen’s Family Lowcountry Lunch on Saturday will include creations from Chef Neuville like corn chowder, braised barbecue pork shoulder ribs, and grilled octopus with three pepper salad.
Inspired by Piho, who will also be in attendance, the lunch is intended to offer parents the chance to teach their children about food and flavor. Piho’s book, My Two-Year-Old Eats Octopus: Raising Children Who Love to Eat Everything, focuses on helping parents teach their children to eat more than the standard pasta and grilled cheese. The book has tips from America’s top chefs on how to get children to try new foods.
Piho worked as a food marketer for 20 years before writing her book, and she is the mother of two boys. As the book’s website explains, “This is a funny, serious, and clever approach to introducing children to the foods adults eat.”
