c. schools, being places where the prohibition of weapons by even licensed staff and teachers is in place, are frequently selected by nutjobs as targets

Then:
d. we need to protect schools better

Putting a cop at each one is one option. Allowing teachers and staff with concealed carry permits to be armed is another (if they so choose) or additional option.
