Yeah I'm a nit-picky pain in the ass, but "These folks made a brief but impactful appearance on the scene before fading out for whatever reason" and you list Alex Sanders, Arthur Ravenel, John Graham Altman and Reuben Greenberg, each of whom made an impact on Charleston for a period longer than your own self-celebrated 15 years. Hell, you even mention Greenberg's 23 year tenure!

American small cities & towns have gentrified& cleaned up & now the quirky, "edgy" feel of so many is neutered in the name of progress.

      In before "list fails without"....

Also, what Driftaway mentions is what is happening to a lot of small to medium cities across America. There's this weird push toward catering to the "creative class" that's been happening over the last decade but in order to do that, the first thing that has to leave town is the actual creative and "odd" people who have been at the center of a downtown for years and years and years.

In other words, before you get people to move to or visit your funky little downtown, you have to clean up your funky little downtown.
