Foodmancing: That looks like something I might watch sometime. Again, I wouldn't be surprised if somehow there was an event very early on in human history that somehow survived in the oral tradition throughout a few thousand years of migration.<br>

      <![CDATA[Aside from the risk of electrocution due to downed power lines, of which there were obviously zero during this flood, nothing in this story gives any reason whatsoever not to kayak on Market St.  "Streets are made for cars" - um, yes, until the streets turn into rivers. Kayaks were made for rivers.

I think that's probably part of it - along with the fact of oral traditions changing pretty boring stories ("it rained pretty hard for a couple of days, so we left") into something more interesting ("it rained for two straight months and all but 6 of our people died")...

Because, if I survived the drive to the beach I had already gotten past the most dangerous part.<br>
