<![CDATA[Homeowner associations have always been a bad idea. They subject homeowners to abuse by a few usually real estate agents who learn how to take control of an association and then looting from the other homeowners.

<![CDATA[My biggest complaint about HOA life is that most of them do very vague outlines and it leaves you wondering if someday they are going to tell you everyone must have white curtains etc. I like the inside of my home to look the way I want to look. Some of the associations even perform inhome inspections and I find that absolutely ridiculous.

<![CDATA[Wexford Sound is listed as being in the "city" of James Island, and in MLS listings I saw there was no clear indication that the houses come with a mandatory and contentious HOA obligation. Homeowners listing their properties and their REALTOR's and the MLS it would seem, should be required to disclose such a potential stigma and may be liable to be sued if a potential buyer is not provided with a clear explanation of the potential ramifications of the HOA's apparent police powers, and how it might negatively impact their "bundle of rights" as a property owner.

Our covenants and subsequent bylaws are very lenient in comparison with other HOAs, and really only required a common sense approach to keeping the subdivision neat, clean, quiet and in good repair.
