Samuel Beckett was amazingly correct when the worst, most base, and awful name he could call someone was "Crrrritic!" And that certainly applies to Nick Smith.

Oh, everything has to be postmodern drivel for the arrogant, pompous Nick Smith to enjoy it--to feel that it's "pushing the envelope."

No way was Die Roten Punkte "a poor man's Hedwig and the Angry Inch."

I saw Hedwig in it's heyday in NY and as much as I enjoyed it then, Die Roten Punkte completely blew my mind. Their songs are genuinely catchy and have stayed with me for days.

Boy, has this "alternative" newspaper lost its edge! Are you people so afraid of losing all your Spoleto-time perks that you have finally resorted to this kind of lapdog journalism?
The Spoleto Festival programming buck stops on Nigel Redden's desk, and if the offerings are cautious (and dull or boring or "retro" or just plain old tired and way behind the curve of what's going on out there in the world) then the "blame" rests squarely on Redden's shoulders.
