<![CDATA[I came accross your blog while surfing and have an anecdote that reinforces your point. My son is a college student with an avid interest in American history. This Christmas I had sent him a t-shirt celebrating the election of Barack Obama to the presidency. My son had voted for the first time in a presidential election and had voted for Mr. Obama. The shirt has nothing offensive or rude on it, simply the President-Elect's picture.
His mother is a politically appointed (and connected) employee of the Columbia City Council and supposedly a voice for the citizens with the Council. She has forbidden my son from wearing that shirt. The only thing offensive to her about this shirt is that it bears the image of a black man that was duly elected as the first black President. How small minded.
