      <![CDATA[I sincerely appreciate the mention John and I agree that Columbus or Jacksonville, or any orchestra experiencing financial problems is representative of the arts environment as a whole. In my experience, most situations like Columbus, albeit tragic, are homemade problems. More to that point, I recently learned that the Columbus Symphony board not only canceled planned subscription sales (as the press release made it appear) but they canceled the entire sales campaign back in February, only weeks after announcing their proposed financial plan and months before negotiations started. Consequently, I think your interpretation that the problems are more internal than external is right on the mark.
