      <![CDATA[whites &ldquo;hate us even more than they do the blacks. For they&rsquo;re never sure about us, they can&rsquo;t place us.&rdquo;
    - I like that quote from the book - my family who is tri-racial but with hues ranging from white to black never had a pyschological problem about it, it was simplier to just be "black" in all kinds of weather. In this way white folks could go about their hater ways and breathe easy. My daughter however, whose dad was Austrian Jew, had more cream than coffee in her skin and like Mr. Matthews had a hard time being "placed" by whites who always have to put people "in their place". Consequently, on her jobs, they never knew who they were dealing with, and always always asked her. She used to like mess with their heads, and never tell them. They were uncomfortable knowing that there was always the possibilty of a lawsuit...
