It might sound corny, but “Awesome on Anson” is the only way that I can describe this restaurant.

Many people have told me that this was a great place to eat, but I have to admit I was more than surprised at how good it was.

We eat at Anson about once a month, usually with company from out of town. If you want traditional Charleston food with some innovations mixed in, this is the place.

Anson consistently serves excellent Charleston style food in a very comfortable atmosphere. Whether you choose seafood such as triggerfish or crispy flounder, or meat such as a fillet or pork you will not be disappointed.

Great flounder with apricot sauce, however, other diner's dish (seabass over succotash)consisted of a square of underseasoned fish dropped on top of a few dozen bland beans in a watered down broth and definitely left something to be desired. Atmosphere was a little too dull for our taste.

Consistently great food and atmosphere thoroughout the years! Best shrimp and grits, filet so tender you won't need a knife, and the scored flounder with the apricot sauce is amazing.
