Singing super-group The Shock T's have performed in Charleston so many times, we forget they actually live in Chicago. They're returning for their third Piccolo Spoleto performance May 31-June 2, and they recently posted a video to encourage local audiences to attend their show.

This week is ominously known as "Spoleto Week" here at the City Paper offices. It's the deceptively quiet week we spend preparing for the first of three big issues devoted to Spoleto Festival USA and Piccolo Spoleto.

Spoleto is right around the corner, and we're getting prepared extra early this year. Though the festival attracts people from all over the world, they like to give special ticket offers to locals first.

As May draws closer, our excitement for this year’s Spoleto Festival intensifies. Here's the official lineup for the 2013 Bank of America Chamber Music Series.

“The Chamber Music Series is a truly unique and integral part of the festival," says Jessie Bagley, marketing and PR manager for the festival.
May 24 will be here before we know it, bringing the Spoleto Festival and all that it entails — tourists, packed restaurants, and of course, plenty of new theater, art, music, and more. And this year is a pretty special one, as Spoleto is making its Shakespeare debut with a production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

If you’re unfamiliar, A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a dreamlike comedy about the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of six amateur actors who are comically manipulated by fairies.

The play should appeal to both traditional Shakespeare lovers and those who cringe at the thought of sitting through one of the Bard's plays.
