mat, let me type slower so you can keep up, it is a very consistent narrative. America is a great country founded by individuals that espoused freedom, democracy, and capitalism. America is the greatest country ever, period, bar none. Democracy & capitalism have done more good than all other systems combined. America became great long before big gubment and taxes. But things have changed and America is on the decline and the speed of this decline is directly correlated to the growth of the federal government and the acceptance and use of leftist social policy and central planning. Communism has killed hundreds of millions and is devoid of morality and human rights. Socialism is a failure as well and has only work for relatively short periods in tiny countries with incredibly homogenous cultures. These are undeniable truths that idiots on the let refuse to accept. Or you privately accept it but deny publicly because you are a radical leftist and closeted communist.
mat, I might respect you some if you stopped being so intellectually dishonest and admit that you are a radical socialist and have deep rooted communist sympathies.
Aw yes, comrades mat & hamilton to the rescue and as usual bashing the community they live in. This kid, like Trayvon Martin, got himself into that pickle. The cop simply wanted to investigate and talk to the kid. The kids attitude & behavior got him arrested. If I were a vendor downtown I would call the cops myself if I thought others were operating without a license.
mat, America is the greatest success yet of mankind, but communists like you and union lover comrade hamilton are the ones pushing the failed policies. One day you idiots will accept reality, but by then America will be one big Greece or Detroit.
Saildude - Clearly you and others are clueless abut the current out of control violence in South Africa. Google is your fried, use it!!
Mandela was a violent man that embraced violence. Even the liberal LA Times wrote about it. http://www.latimes.com/world/worldnow/la-f…
Chris - People aren't calling Obama a communist, but he is without a doubt a socialist and openly advocates for wealth redistribution. Most progressives, however, are closeted communists or at the very least hardcore socialists that are willing to collude & sympathize with communists.
This reminds me of the deaths of Senators Byrd & Thurmond. The media bias was very real & clear. Thurmond was labelled a racist Dixiecrat while Byrd was lauded as a great humanitarian. Too bad for the left wing media that the truth was very different. Only one of those men was a vocal & active member of the KKK, and it wasn't old Strom.
Golden Ratio - You are ignorant and foolishly & grossly misinformed. I'm not sure how small schools fund athletics, but NCAA Division I athletic programs do not spend a penny of taxpayer money. Athletics at schools like Clemson & South Carolina are privately funded via massive TV contracts for football & basketball (ESPN, etc.), ticket sales, licensing agreements & merchandise sales, and concessions. Most athletic scholarships are funded by booster clubs like IPTAY and the Gamecock Club. Funding for large capital projects like athletic facilities is provided via bonds re-paid out of the aforementioned athletic department revenues and booster club donations. In fact, Clemson's athletic department actually gives millions to the university every year. I think last year the athletic department gave the university over $2.5 million. Thanks to Clemson athletics countless small business owners in the Clemson area and larger corporations in the greater area make millions in extra revenues & profits. Home values in the area are very healthy, which funds arguably the best high school in SC, D.W. Daniel.
Chris, the biggest mistake in Clemson history was new president Max Lennon not understanding southern football culture and firing Danny Ford. Administrators after Lennon also deemphasized athletics, which has led to the decline of Clemson's overall athletic success. But our recent run of failure against USC falls on one person - Dabo. Tommy Bowden had the same overt Christian philosophy and he successfully turned the program around following its decline post Ford. Unfortunately, he never successfully replaced Rich Rodriguez as offensive coordinator. That resulted in the program hitting a plateau, but he owned USC while he was head coach. The true irony of Dabo's failures against USC is the fact that he mainly got the permanent head coaching job because Clemson beat USC in 2008. I wasn't a TB fan, and I'm not a big fan of Dabo either. Danny Ford is a Christian, but he spewed fire & brimstone of his own variety (laced with plenty of profanity and colorful metaphors) when he ran the program. Playing nice (Bowden & Dabo) and playing a soft style of football (Oregon has the same trouble beating physical old school teams) will not win championships and won't beat physically tougher teams. Clemson has actually out recruited USC over the years, but coaching is more important than recruiting, and USC is currently beating Clemson thanks to a tougher style of football and better coaching. Until we get a head coach that understands big boy football, toughness, and the importance of a solid offensive line, we'll continue to see Clemson stomp weaker less talented teams while looking silly against tougher and better coached teams, even when they have less talent. I'm not pleased, but have accepted this is how things are going to be for the near future. One thing to help us through these tough years is knowing we actually won the national championship (I was there!) which USC is still not close to doing, and we still have a huge lead in the overall series. Let them have their due. The sun can't shine on the same dogs ass all the time. They still suck and their luck will turn.
