"It shall be the responsibility of Late Night Entertainment Establishment personel (sic) to clear..."
That last word is very problematic. Are these bouncers going to be able to use batons and truncheonst? CS gas? Tasers? How about leashed snarling dogs?
Police are a legitimate use of tax funds. And these businesses definitely pay taxes.
Like most shows set in the South, will they constantly have a sheen of perspiration on their brows as the ceiling fans fail to overcome the sultry weather?
"And we cannot be satisfied until all students are achieving excellence and end their K-12 career ready to go to college or ready to enter the workforce."
Be ready to be dissatisfied. Forever.
Equality of opportunity does not equal equality of results. It's a bell curve, there will always be some at the far left (low) side in terms of capabilities and achievements. There will be a lot in the middle. And, at the far right...excellence. If all students are achieving it, then it isn't excellence.
Ron, we need to do both (penalize employers of illegals AND deport all that we can find) and in a consistent manner. When employers know there's a good chance they'll be caught and fined/imprisoned and illegals know there's a good chance they'll be caught and deported, both will be deterred. There should also be punative action against the illegal, not just a free trip home especially if this is a repeat offense.
This is not theory, countries with normal immigration laws have been doing this sort of thing for years.
