Dick Riley, who loved education, once told me in his late years that there will never be enough money for public education. He intimated that whatever was given to such education there would be more requested and not necessiarly based on results. For the general information issue most of these magnet type schools have lottery based allotments. Luck can determine alot! The problem as I see it is that the hard core support element for Public Education is normally against anything that improves the educational landscape that is not a product of the school management system.
According to the FBI and media sources the far left anti gun crowd numbers at about a max of 11%. The same sources place the number of gun owners in their lowest estimation at about 80,000,000. This number does not take into account the family members, but with the given houshold placed at 2.6 persons per house we would be looking at about 60% of our country. While this is fairly leaky math, it does show that a very large number of persons have alot to lose with this issue. I would bet that the disarming of legal gun owners would have very serious repercussions in the 2014 elections, Most likely very close to what happened in 2010.
One thing I remember from my days of military service is that their is never enough ammunition, many people for that reason want their home protection pistols to have alot of ammunition something the slow loading revolver can't do The problem is anyone with a old fashioned bolt action rifle has them at his or her mercy. Shotguns are also a problem in that they are very short ranged. Security then is at the preception of individual. I am amazed that so many of the rabid anti gun crowd feel so safe with the security forces in this country. I do notice that the more public of these individuals, on the national scene, always keep armed bodyguards something the majority of Americans can not afford.
This if persued with the rage of the antigun crowd will lead to even more polarization of the Country and very serious repercussions for this republic we live in. This I do know: Disarm the legal public and the debate is over. A goverment then owns the people via its own security enities. Revolvers and shotguns won't stand up against swat teams or other paramilitary forces, and the "bad guys" who never have legal guns themselves will prevail. The other equasionis not one respondent has discussed is the effect on production and jobs that will result if this issue is persued to the max. We will add to a recession and make it harder to recover from. I doubt that at this time there is any chance of reasonable disscussion being had.
At least the outcry identifies the left's zellots. Easier to get to when it all go's to hell! I seriously doubt that any real sanity will come of this. Maybe next year!
Good one JROB! I hadn't thought about that. Just don't expect any of those places to change.
For information purposes for JROB and MRI: Fully automatic weapons are legal. You go through a permitting process and if found able to have such a weapon you pay for a tax stamp and a little provision that allows the US Govermwent the right to inspect said weapon on the listed site at any time. This is current US law and is legal in all 50 states. It is interesting that not one of these weapons is ever used in a crime. Now I'm not looking to get into a protracted discussion on any of this matter. Just thought that everyone should think before making certain statements.
