Re: “West Ashley Library

This library may be small, but the people who work there make it special. They are ready and willing to help with anything you're looking up. I've asked for help on a research subject. After directing me to the appropriate area, the librarian would come back every once in a while with something that she had found in another location that might be helpful. Any book or movie that I want to get, they put in the request and get it quickly from another location. I don't even mind paying fines if I forget a book. They are always so friendly and I know that the money will go to buy new items for the library. The children's programs are wonderful and usually small groups. The librarians and other workers really make this library a special place for everyone who walks through the door.

Re: “Presents from Punks earns major Santa points

I got the blue creature by Patch Whisky and we love it. This one along with 4 BadJon works have a home and we know that the proceeds went to a great cause. Looks like they had fun buying all those toys.

Re: “Libraries adjust to life in the digital world

The future of the library is safe. The buildings will stand well into the future. Inside the building is ever changing however. People think that books will be obsolete with the introduction of IPads and downloadable books. In the future libraries will offer downloadable books. Wi-fi is already available iin other locations and will be available in Charleston in the future. As technology advances, so will the library. Libraries are ever changing, albeit not fast enough for some people. Writers will always write and people will always read. Somehow, curling up in my comfy chair with a computer just isn't as soothing as curling up with a good book. I love technology, but the simplicity of reading a good book is heart-warming. People will always enjoy reading, exploring, and dreaming.
