Re: “Gearing up for a sober summer on Folly Beach

Was at Folly Beach a week ago enjoying the food and beverages at FBSC (which is under new management and could use another name) and I can tell you that for all the drinking that is not being done on the beach, patrons of area restaurants are taking up the slack. Everywhere you looked people were crowding into local establishments and even the Crosby's Seafood Friday night "dinner on the dock" had over 100 dinners enjoyed the open air ambiance of eating seafood beside the very fishing boats that caught it while watching a beautiful sunset over the marsh. (Have to wonder if their business license really allows that, but what the heck, sure looks like fun to me.) I am sure the beach ban will hurt a few businesses but overall it would appear to be a good thing. Now if they can just ban noisy motorcycles..

Re: “Mr. Sanford goes (back) to Washington

It seems some 40 to 60 people in the Charleston area actually read these articles on-line. Perhaps some of them can explain to me why the likes of Mark Sanford gets elected to represent this district despite his apparent theft of public resources; his dereliction of duty as Governor; and his failure to keep an oath of fidelity made before God. Have I missed something here or would he not have served jail time in the private sector. As an independent I would have thrown a rare vote to a Democrat this time had they fielded a stronger candidate. Just what it is that 77,000 voters see in Sanford that escapes me?

Re: “Is Anne Frank's Diary pornography?

Sexuality in this country has been deliberately oppressed because it helps create a market for such material without ever really addressing the reason there is so much gender bias in America. Pornographic materials is almost entirely oriented toward male gratification and it has only been in the past few decades the potentials for female enjoyment of sexuality have come to the fore, much less the mechanics of attainment. Very few men are aware of the female anatomy, or are willing to spend the time learning and applying the techniques which will help a women reach and sustain the levels of intense pleasure their bodies are capable of, and which are so important to a healthy relationship. In Anne's day, she would have been like most women today, waiting for the fireworks that had already happened. Just not for her.
