Re: “Former editor of Rand Paul’s Neo-Confederate staffer talks about the Southern Avenger

I knew a lot of Jack's (Jackie's) friends back in the 90's. We would go see his bands play and occasionally I'd casually sit and talk with him in the bar sometimes. A super cool guy back then, with a great stage presence, too. Remembering that he was a big fan of that wrestler, "The Rock." Eventually I left the state and lost touch, but would run into him every once in a while on my visits back to the south. Still a pleasant dude, but understand that I never did get to read or listen to any of his political commentary, since this all went on after I left. I was vaguely aware of the Southern Avenger and other things he did in the media, so to hear that all of his hard work gained him national attention and eventually a spot to work for Rand Paul made me proud that he got that far.

As the story about his past (shock-jock and editorial) history began to surface in the news last summer, I was hearing it from friends and getting a lot of chatter about racism, secession, John Wilkes-Booth birthday, etc. I was shocked and surprised to hear all this about Jack. And to see some of his transcripts online was unbelievable. I still think he is a super cool guy, but find it very hard to believe that he was able to, for so many years, spew a bunch of white supremacist garbage without contest or protest. Very unprofessional of him to ask you to revise his online history for the purpose of 'damage control' and yes, a cowardly move at that. Charleston holds its conservative values close to its heart, and that has helped maintain a clean and beautiful city rich in history and hospitality. But beneath the vale of charm, I have heard ugly things said about blacks, Jews and other minorities at frat parties, in restaurants, at the beach, in the strip malls... That part in the Borat movie says it all.

I know not all white people are racist, but to lay it all out on the line the way Jack did definitely makes him a hater. By the way, that mask and shit- totally stole that from the Mexicans. I guess he's a thief too. I don't think I hate him, but I don't want to raise my kids under a government run by the likes of him or people he is associated with. I don't claim any political party, I just want to have people in our government who can do right for all, and we are all not white. I'm glad I got to read this and finally get the CCP side of things. Your commentary, Mr. Haire, is informative, surgical and precise, but kind of heartbreaking.
