The book is award worthy. If I were a legislator, I would spend less time on the topics in the book and look more closely at the selection committee and the relationship those people have to the publisher of this Fun Home.
A huge order like this is significant, and one may want to look for unusual "connections" between those picking the book and who is profiting from it.
The reason given by Garry Smith to stop the funding is a weak one, but cutting the money off is a good idea.
I meant the book Prenatal Testing and Disability Rights
Does feminism mean being a lazy writer for a newpaper? So Ms. Piepmeier, since you like to play fast and loose with fact checking, what - specifically - are the events where confederate uniform was in full display (what was the context) and exactly which "big event" had "where white people will be sipping wine while black employees carry away the trash." Who attended and where did this happen?
If feminism is being bold, why not name it right in the open, instead of - yet again - passively grunting towards it. It earns a sisterly eye roll.
Your writing is a mess...you couldn't even keep consistent where "people of color" don't even earn the respect to have the same descriptive given to them before reducing them to their skin pigmentation to "black employees." Your privilege is showing...will that be accessible too at the festival?
Or is this like your other column where you seem to lift (plagiarize?) a passage from _Disability and Prenatal Testing_ with this excerpt by Dr. Ralston, "I am pro-choice and I believe all women and couples should have the right to and access to abortion services regardless of their motivations. Period. Asch, p. 339." and your VERY SIMILAR phase "Not at all. My point here isn't to say we need to limit abortion rights. I think abortion should be legal. Period."
It makes sense why you reference trash so often.
