Re: “Nerd Culture is Rape Culture: Elliot Rodger and the misogynistic world of the geek

Most geeks/nerds I have every known have been more respectful toward women than most run of the mill guys. Yes there are some out there that can be beyond socially awkward. Also, most geeks and nerds I know tend be attracted to women with common hobbies and high intelligence, rather than just looks. I myself, being a geek enjoy a person that can challenge my intelligence (and yes I have a gf). You are attacking a stereotype that is not that common. Geeks are slowly becoming part of popular culture and with that I would think idiocy and hate that you are spewing would have been gone in our culture, but I guess not. If I had a child male or female I would not mind them dating a geek or nerd.

Re: “With Sergeant Jasper slated for demolition, downtown workforce housing is getting scarce

There needs to be more regulation on what people can charge for rentals downtown. As it is right now unless you live in dorms, willing to have a ton of people in a house, or be really rich then you can't. It's a shame I liked living downtown, and I won't move to the less safe ends of downtown. So I guess it might be time to find something in west Ashley near a bus rout.

Re: “CofC faculty oppose MUSC merger, having a non-academic president

As a graduate of CofC, I would have never went to a school that was focused on research. I think schools of that nature are failure of education. Publishing papers on research is not all that important in the real world. A focus on education is more important. The schools should stay apart. They should look at what the students think? maybe how this change would affect enrollment, which I can promise it would be adversely. If you need proof of this there is already several petitions floating around trying to fight it. For once law makers need to listen, instead of being out of touch with the people.
