CBP is invaluable to me and all the midwives, nurses, and staff are so dear to my heart. I am so upset over this issue and can't imagine what Lowcountry moms will do if they are forced to close. More women like me would end up having homebirths. I think the new requirement is ridiculous and will only impede emergency care, not improve it! CBP has functioned flawlessly for 6 years, and adheres to the higher national standards. Why not make all birth centers in SC adhere to the national standards, rather than old regulations that don't make sense??
Having my son at a birth center was the best decision I ever made. I always felt safe and cared for. I am very upset at the possibility they will be forced to close. I believe in natural birth and I also believe you cannot get the same level of care at a hospital that you do from a birth center. Not to mention the cost savings!! Hello!!
