Re: “UPDATE: Is the assault of 2-year-old boy wearing a 'pink headband' in Walmart a hoax?

@ Ann Tucker-Gwinn

As much as I am infuriated still, that she used her son and the LGBT community to gain fame; I greatly hope that the hold will prove helpful to her and her child.

Re: “UPDATE: Is the assault of 2-year-old boy wearing a 'pink headband' in Walmart a hoax?

@nemisis

"Just pointing out that supposed facts being thrown around in here are not actually facts, they are assumptions."

No they aren't.

In the links provided below, about the orlando sentinel article this statement is given:

"According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office report, the Polk County Sheriff's Office became aware of Carpenter's blog post detailing the alleged incident at a Four Corners-area Walmart.

Since Polk County was eventually mentioned specifically in the blog as being the responding agency, a Sheriff's Office lieutenant requested a deputy go meet with Carpenter"

So, as several people have said here, as I have said: There were already facts proving she could not/did not call the Sheriff's Department. And we were right. She didn't. The Sheriff's department only became aware of her "report" after learning about her blog post and sending a deputie over to find out whay she lied.

It is tragic that se became suicidal, but the fact's don't lie, and it was this article, this media outlet that was the first to question her lies...after others had already uncovered it.

Re: “UPDATE: Is the assault of 2-year-old boy wearing a 'pink headband' in Walmart a hoax?

Fact: The Polk County Sheriff's Department does NOT have cruisers patrolling the Streets of Davenport. That is what the Davenport Police Dept. is for.

Fact: The Polk County Police Dept. is at least 24 minutes away from Davenport. Taking into consideration: It IS impossible for the Sheriffs dept. to have taken the call, all information, sent someone over, taken statements and then leave. In less then an hour: http://imgur.com/G1ZhOY6.jpg

"That she told the perfect truth? I doubt that."

So, it's okay for her to "embellish"(lie) a story about physical and verbal assault and gain fame from it?

"Apparently a car crash is capable of tying up every available cop in the area"

Katie very clearly states that it was the Sheriffs department that she dealt with. Considering a major state road was closed for two hours during the time of her report, it is obvious that any avalible officers at the Sheriffs department would have that much more to work against them. Thus providing more questions as to how a full statement and other reports (email and other computer checking, phone checking for the "threats" she says she had) were done in less then forty minutes.

"We even have self-proclaimed experts arguing that she couldn't be a flight attendant on a particular plane because it's too small!"

No. She claimed to have been a flight attendent on Air Midwest Flight 5481(before its tragic crash) This plane NEVER HAD FLIGHT ATTENDENTS!! The only crew was the
pilots.

"Give the woman a break."

No. No. No.

My brother is gay. So is my Aunt. My aunt was beaten to the point of being in the hospital for two weeks because she is gay. This happened ten years ago. She and her partner have been denied housing and jobs. They both have suffered extreme discrimination because of who they are. My younger brother was outed at college. He had death threats. He had his private computer entries hacked and plastered in the halls. His clothing was urinated on.

I will not stand by while a woman gleefuly takes attention and praise and support for something that DID NOT HAPPEN. I will not stand by as she PROFITS from the real hatred, real assault and real threats faces by Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgendered and others. I will not sit by while real proof exists of this womans outrght lies, as she uses her son as she uses real threats for fame.

Re: “UPDATE: Is the assault of 2-year-old boy wearing a 'pink headband' in Walmart a hoax?

@Ashley Laverty:

As someone who has followed this very twisted story, I am angered by those who continue to protect this woman and her lies. People that refuse to see this for what it is--a shameless plea for attention...and one that outright uses both her child and the LGBT community at large.

---Just because this woman, in her state of anger and disbelief, didn't think to take an iPhone picture of a man who just publicly embarrassed her and her family means she's making it up?---

She conviently took a photo of her son in the cart, with his headband on. Before her blog was shut-down, she posted countless photos from her iphone of any outings. So yes, it is a strange fact. Take in this too: People will whip out their iPhones and other smartphones with video at any thing they deem interesting, horrible, funny. It seems extremely odd that not a single video or photo has been posted of the incident since the man was apparently so very loud and made a very public scene.

---Just because she may have put her children's needs before her own and chose to go home instead of be 'that mom' at the customer service desk means she's making it up?--

She did not put her child's needs first. She complains that people did not step up, did not try and comfort her. Her story has changed from a cufffing/slap and her son holding the back of his head...to just a simple tap. Whatever the case if her story was real I know of no mother that would simply walk away in tears because people didn't comfort her. They would go to security and report the incident. Because she stated her son was assaulted...those were, apparently her first feelings. She did not put her child first. She put herself first.

--I think you are just stirring up trouble, Chris. You are making an extremely presumptuous accusation and probably should have checked your facts and ego at the door before writing this article.--

Facts? FACTS??!! The facts prove this story is a complete fabrication. It is a disgusting and blatent use of her child and all those LGBT that have to face REAL threats....all so she can gain fame, get hits, and have her name in the headlines.

Ashley, before you condemn someone...perhaps you should do some fact checking yourself.

This article is the only one that reaches at least some semblance of reality in a sea of "Look at how accepting I am!"

Pizza Threat...You can't reply to comments. My "did you pay attention" comment was to the writer of this article for placing updates and not pointing out the obvious that the "report" was fake due to the evidence on her site and now pointed out by you.
