Just a slight correction, we are seeking a $5 suggested donation at the door for entry in to the comic book show, all of which goes to benefit Communities in Schools. And if you come to the comic show you can get a voucher for a 2 for 1 ticket to the movie later!

Archie comics are some of the most enduring and best comics out there. And no, you don't have to be a kid to enjoy them. They even have a zombie themed off shoot series called the Afterlife With Archie which started in 2013. At Park Circle Comics we always have a good response when we get a new batch of Archie Comics in stock.
A black student on the team said that it was a smiley face, not a racial caricature. When someone does something with no racist intent, or knowledge that it would be perceived that way, just because you are hypersensitive and take it as a slant does not mean that they are racist or even have subconsciously done something racist. Instead of going after this coach and trying to shame these innocent kids, the better approach would have been to use it as a teachable moment and explain to these kids the history behind it and why it could be perceived as racist. From what I have read in the many comments here and elsewhere I have a good bit of confidence that the kids would have changed their celebration had they known people were offended.
Instead, the race baiters like Michael Brown and racism perpetuaters like the local NAACP have to do the opposite and try to divide the races, further breaking apart the community instead of bringing it together. Or maybe worry about the environment in the black community that makes someone walk into a children's restaurant and start shooting or goes up to a random person on the street and tries to sucker punch knock them out.
Unfortunately, Mark Sanford is a flawed candidate.
Fortunately, Dimitri Cherney's ideas are so whacked out that he doesn't have a chance. He might want to re think that whole "taught himself economics" because if he believes what he says he believes he does not have a clue.
From the cofc website:
Page 28, pretty much sums up what McConnell has done his entire career. Anyone who looks at that and believes that the others were more qualified based on that list is just being extremely subjective or just plain dishonest.
I am sure there are things that he will have to deal with that are in pretty bad shape but that is not something you can blame him for which is what his opponents are trying to do.
Like I said, he hasn't even started doing the job and he is getting bad employee evaluations. I was not being flippant before, if he does a bad job I will be against him as well but he needs to at least have a chance to start working.
Good conversation. I am out of it now!
I just think that there are multiple errors going on with this book situation. And yes, I have read it. I read it when it came out years ago. Anyone who is scared of the contents of a book is not all together there in the first place no matter what the subject is.
Where I take issue is that if the book was from the list I mentioned above the same people who are screaming that this idiot Congressman's position is outrageous would be equally as incensed that kids were 'forced' to read something from a conservative perspective. As bad as it is to punish for a perspective it is equally bad to reward for a perspective.
And my problem all along has been where did all of the money go? If the program is meant to be for incoming freshman and they pay a fee that covers this where did the money go? And why did they buy 4,000 copies when there were only approximately 2,200 freshmen coming in? And why is the college buying books for students that are not even required reading? Or buying books for students period? Political argument aside, which I agree that getting freaked out because it is a book about lesbians is stupid, there are questions I have as to why would they need the money in the first place.
