Here's a cheat sheet for you people. People who ride bikes - wait for it - own cars, too. Yes, we pay taxes. I'd like to ride my bike to work and not be run over. Apparently that represents a communist/liberal conspiracy to some of you people.
"When I asked Gregorie what would happen if a bar didn't clear a parking area, he readily admitted that it would most likely receive a citation."
Sounds like a real legal scholar. If the bars don't clear areas they don't own, they pay a fine. Perfectly reasonable.
In any event, I think you missed the point of this ordinance. Joe goes to cocktail parties with the wine & cheese crowd and they don't like sharing downtown with the unwashed masses. The rabble of college kids, renters and "you know who" are ruining their idealized Garden and Gunesque city. Not to worry, Joe Riley, the Historic Foundation, the CCL and the many neighborhood associations will rally together to make sure the city remains a romanticized museum with no affordable housing, no real jobs (fighting port expansion and arguing the presence of those obnoxious cruise ship are a threat to the city's historic character) and keeping the low rent bars and their customers out of town. This ain't for the tourists, this is for the Joe's friends.
"you must not deal in facts. The unemployment rate in Dec. when Bush left office was 7.2% (Bureau of Labor Statistics). It's never come close to that under Obama. We've skyrocketed the deficit, have two million fewer jobs now than when Obama came into office and by most economists accounts our economy is anemic."
Facts: economy purging 800k jobs a month when Bush left office. Most job losses were in the first six months of the Obama admin. Presumably he could have stopped that by some sort of magic.
Fact: Budget surplus of 200 billion plus a year when W entered office and 1.3 a year when he left.
Fact: The financial system collapsed in 2007, not during the current administration.
Fact: 4 million jobs have been added to the economy since the purge that began during the previous administration.
Fact: You're not real good with calenders.
A Democrat supporting other Democrats and Democratic positions. Holy Hell, call Woodward and Bernstein, I smell a Pulitzer in Tara's future.
