I gotta agree with Catastrophe here. I see no other use for the CisternYard other than marketing and promoting. During my years at COFC up until now, I honestly do not think I ever read any article substantial enough to stick with me and ponder, or discuss with others. You would think college journalists, more than anyone, would bring to the table, in detail, what students want to discuss bc they know students remain unsure who to go to, or straight up fear bringing certain things up. Such a crucial topic that needs to be addressed by students, to students, and its covered up by COFC for almost a year, and relayed by an editor who is on the Honor Board? F----d Up COFC.
Now I am basing my opinion strictly on the editions I have read, and I for a fact have not read every one, or even a lot really. But I do know almost everyone I did read brought up 1) basketball, 2) basketball, and oh yeah, 3)...basketball. A liberal arts school consistent focus on sports is totally backwards. Besides basketball, the only other thing I remember are requests for money and the envelope jammed in some editions to send the money in. As a student magazine it is pretty pointless really...
And to the moron who says women "invite" abuse, if someone snatches your wallet out of your back pocket, dont get mad at the crook. You invited him to steal it since you put in your back pocket right? Sure that may have been a bad idea to stick it back there, but does that it make less of a crime, and the crook any less of a thief? It doesnt matter if a woman is walking down the street butt ass naked. Sure that maybe stupid, but it doesn't say RAPE ME. It simply says, "Im drunk." or "Im stupid" or "I want attention..Look at me!". Whatever, it doesnt even matter. Look to point the finger at media all you want: if you touch her without her permission, it doesnt make you any less of a GUITLY rapist. Bastard.
Great cafe and great folks who run it!
